- 1997 Jun 11.9 - Lenka Sarounova (Ondrejov Obs.)
acquires a lightcurve in the R band.
As expected, no deviations from the normal rotational lightcurve are detected at this
time.
- 1997 Jun 11.6 - Jin Zhu (Xinglong - Beijing Observatory)
acquires a lightcurve during the
predicted MJD 50610.540 event. The ocultation is successfully detected.
- 1997 Jun 11.2 - Alan Harris (DLR) and John Davies (JACH)
perform 1 - 3 micron reflection spectroscopy of Dionysus with UKIRT. Quick-look data
show a rather smooth, featureless spectrum.
- 1997 Jun 10.9 - Petr Pravec (Ondrejov Obs.)
acquires a lightcurve in the R band spanning 2.7 hr (MJD 50609.85884 - 50609.97206).
Although the observations encompass the predicted P/2 event at MJD 50609.962, no
deviations from the normal rotational lightcurve were detected. This would imply that
the half-period event is either not taking place, or that it is shifted in time (due to
phase angle effects).
- 1997 Jun 9.2 - 10.2 - Alan Harris (DLR) and John Davies (JACH)
observe Dionysus with UKIRT at 10 microns. The UKIRT results confirm the ISO 10 micron result
and imply a diameter of about 1.3 km and albedo of 0.33, based on a simple
thermal model.
- 1997 Jun 9.9 - Petr Pravec (Ondrejov Obs.) acquires a lightcurve spanning 1.7 hr
(MJD 50608.89238 - 50609.96246). As expected, no deviations from the normal rotational lightcurve are detected at this
time.
- 1997 Jun 8.0 - Elisabetta Dotto (Padova Obs.) acquires high S/N Vis spectra (400-1000 nm) of Dionysus
with the ESO 1.5m telescope.
- 1997 Jun 6.0 - ESA infrared satellite ISO
(Alan Harris - DLR, PI) observes Dionysus with 5 filters throughout the
10 - 60 micron region.
